Why Visual Content Sells

How often have you clicked on a link simply because of the picture posted with it? I, for one, am a sucker for a puppy picture and will click on pretty much anything associated with Golden Retrievers. This has led to more than once unnecessary online purchase, but we’ll save those stories for another blog post.

My point is: visual content sells!

When it comes to digital marketing, your strategies are constantly changing...and they have to! The online world is constantly evolving. And in order to remain competitive, you must keep up with the most effective trends and try to stay ahead of the game. You and I know this, yet there are still companies out there whose marketing managers aren’t using visual content.

I’m a numbers guy so let’s take a look at some of those:

  • Visuals are processed 60,000 times faster by the brain than text. Yes, 60-thousand times faster.
  • When infographics are utilized, traffic grows 12% more than if they’re not.
  • 85% of U.S. internet users watch videos online.
  • Buyers are 85% more likely to purchase something if they watch the product’s video.

The point of this post isn’t to bore you with numbers, so I’ll stop there. But I purposely ended with that final bullet point. It’s simple: visual content sells! Anything that your target audience can quickly glance at or watch not only makes it easier for them, but also more likely that they will remember it. And remembering it gets them coming back to your site over and over, which, in turn, increases the probability that they will eventually become a customer (I know, I said I was done with numbers).

Now remember, this isn’t to say that you can implement visual content in your marketing strategy and boost sales by 30%. However, when you make visual part of your digital marketing strategy, you will see better results.
