6 SEO Pop Songs That Will Improve Conversions

Full disclosure: I’m a sucker for pop songs and secretly think Katy Perry is amazing. With that being said, I’ve come up with 6 SEO Pop Songs that will help your website improve its SEO ranking and ultimately increase your website conversions.

6 SEO Pop Songs!

Livin La Vida Content

If you’re new to the digital marketing philosophy and only have the capacity to learn one thing from each blog you read, remember this:

Content is the key to conversions

With valuable and relevant content, your website visitors tend to stay longer on your website to consume the information. This not only increases your average session duration, but there is a correlation for the longer someone is on your website, the more likely they are to convert into a lead.

Based on this research, content between 2,000 – 2,500 words tend to rank highest in search engines. Don’t feel forced into writing blogs that extensive, because wordcount does not play any factor in SEO, but longer content does give you more opportunities to provide more expertise, incorporate more keywords and place additional outbound links, which always helps.

Fun little fact I learned recently: When visitors bookmark your content on Chrome, it will increase your website google ranking.

Outbound Links Don’t Lie

To make your content more valuable, try linking out to authoritative sites for more relevant information your audience will enjoy and find useful.

Linking out to well-respected authority sites will not only increase the relevancy of your content and time readers spend on your site, but it is also believed to send trust signals to Google and improve SEO ranking.

It’s worth noting that more is not always better. Extensive outbound links may be distracting and take your audience away from the actual conversion opportunity.

Cali-Image-Optimization

You can increase SEO value of web pages by by using keywords in your image’s file name, alt tags, title, description and captions.

You’ll also want to keep in mind the size and format of the image you upload. A mega-sized file can really slow down the load time of a page. A perfect segway to my next favorite song.

I Believe in a Thing Called Page Speed

This song brings back memories of actually listening to music on CD players and being frustrated by the constant skipping. It skipped because your sister dropped the CD on the ground, then you decide to get her back by taking a key to her Britney Spears CD, which then spiraled into you not talking for 15 years and now you constantly regret not reconnecting with her. Excuse me...I have to make a call.

I digress.

All major search engines algorithms take into account page speed and it’s often the element that can have the most quick wins in terms of increasing speed and ranking.

Stat of the Blog: A one second delay in page load time results in a 7% decrease in conversions and a 11% decrease in page views.

Visitors who leave your website because it’s not quick enough hurt your dwell time, increase your bounce rate and reduce the number of pages viewed – all of which could hurt your SEO ranking.

Crazy Egg has an excellent article on 10 tips to increase page load speed, some of which include minimizing HTTP requests, enable browser caching, optimizing your image as I stated before, prioritizing above the fold content and optimizing CSS delivery. If some of these things are over your head, talk to your developer. They will help you out!

Bohemian Readability

By making your content easy to read and understand, you increase the likelihood that the visitor will not only read more of the blog but also convert at your calls to action. There are some SEO experts who believe that Google factors readability into their search algorithm.

Here’s some recommended tools for page readability:

Boulevard of Broken Links

It’s uber frustrating being taken to a 404 page when clicking a link on a page. It makes for a bad user experience.

Not only that, but search engines consider a large number of broken links on a webpage as a signal of an outdated and irrelevant site which can negatively affect your SEO ranking.

Along with page speed, fixing your broken links can have a quick positive effect on search engine signals. Before you go and rush to find all of your broken links one by one, here’s some tools you can use that will find of the broken links on your website:

If you’ve made it this far and haven’t realized that the SEO tips were hidden into old pop song titles, I either didn’t do a good enough job with my play on words or you're just not that into music.

Either way, I’ve chosen these tips because they are the most efficient and effective tips that will not only improve your website’s SEO, but will also result in an increase in conversions if done right.

One last tip: While your taking the time to make some of these strategy changes to improve your SEO, put on some headphones and listen to the referenced songs.
